If you are able to work a small part-time job after retirement, it will help you out a lot. Many people think when they retire, they can no longer work any longer, but this is not true at all.

There are so many different side gigs a retiree could do if you are feeling like you want to earn extra income. Think of things that you like to do. If you like to be around others, maybe think of a restaurant or retail job. If you like animals, maybe walking a dog would be a good job. The door is wide open -- find a side gig that makes you happy while making extra income while you are retired from your full-time job.

Working a side gig to give you extra income while on retirement is a great thing as long as you are feeling up to it. You do want to make sure you are not making more than $25,000 per year with the side gig or Social Security is going to dock you on your Social Security check. It is fine to work a side gig but just do not make more than $25,000 per year.

If you feel like you are not physically able to work after you retire, do not force yourself to work. Only get a side gig if you are physically able because you do not want to make yourself sick by over-exerting yourself.
