Signs That Retirement Is Catching Up With You
Perhaps you once thought you'd never retire. Maybe you very much enjoy your work or were worried about your financial situation or both. Now, though, you may be noticing some signs, both positive and negative, that retirement is catching up with you. If so, then give your future some serious consideration because it might just be time to take the plunge, set work aside, and start enjoying your life in fun, new, and interesting ways.
Negative Signs
You may be noticing negative signs that suggest it's time to retire. If your stress levels at work are continually building, for instance, and you can no longer easily manage them, this may indicate that your mind and body are worn out from the pressure and that you need to retire soon. You might also be seeing changes in your profession or your workplace that are not in sync with your values, experience, or preferences. In that case, you may decide to leave the field to younger workers and start pursuing a life of retirement on your own terms.
Positive Signs
On the other hand, there may be some positive signs that retirement is catching up with you. Maybe you've reached a place in your life where you're comfortable financially and no longer have to work so hard to support your family. Then it may be time to relax. You could also have some hobbies and activities that you long to spend time on. You may want to travel or pursue further education or simply read all those books you've never gotten around to. Your family may be expanding, too, and if you have grandchildren, you'll want time to enjoy them.
